Municipal Bi-Laws
Bi- Laws consultative workshop will be taking place at Greater Kokstad Municipality on the 24-25 April 2008,
By laws are simply the local laws that specify what things may be regulated by the municipality.
These by-laws will be presented to the Greater Kokstad community and stakeholders.
The Bi-laws that will be presented are: outdoor advertising and signage, property encroachment, refuse removal and disposal, pounds, parking, public transport, keeping of animals, cemetery and crematoria, civic honours, fire prevention and the by law relating to rates.
These are draft by laws, the municipality consults with the stakeholders and the community for objections and additions.
When the municipality has consulted with publics and made necessary amendments, the document then goes to council for adoption. After the council has adopted the document, the document goes for gazzeting and these laws can be enforced, people who fail to comply can be charged in the court of law.
